Our Mission & Programs
FOUNDA INC operates structured programs to cultivate foundational reading mastery, spark scientific curiosity through marine fieldwork, and provide strategic seed grants for premier oceanographic institutions.
Youth Science Literacy & Field Discovery
True scientific understanding starts with direct observation. Our Youth Science Literacy initiative connects elementary and middle school students with real-world oceanographic laboratory tooling, digital microscopy, and coastal biodiversity fieldwork.
- ◆ Hands-on marine specimen examination and microscopic taxonomy exploration.
- ◆ Mobile hydrology and environmental water-testing laboratory kits for classrooms.
- ◆ Mentorship sessions with active marine scientists and biological curators.
Foundational Reading & Scientific Comprehension
Scientific curiosity cannot advance without structured reading fluency. Our Youth Reading Literacy program curates foundational natural science texts, provides classroom book distribution, and scaffolds early vocabulary for young learners.
- ◆ Distribution of curated natural science micro-libraries to Title I classrooms.
- ◆ Vocabulary expansion workbooks bridging conversational English with scientific terminology.
- ◆ Critical inquiry reading workshops pairing scientific storytelling with guided discussion.
Scripps Institution of Oceanography Collaboration
FOUNDA INC provides direct philanthropic catalyst funding to the Benthic Invertebrate Collection at Scripps Institution of Oceanography (UC San Diego). Our contributions aid in deep-sea specimen cataloging, taxonomy preservation, and youth educational lab visits.
- ◆ Support for curation and digital preservation of 800,000+ deep-sea benthic specimens.
- ◆ Zero-overhead capital transfers directly to university foundation research funds.
- ◆ Direct educational pathways linking K-12 students with graduate marine taxonomists.
Future Program Horizons
FOUNDA INC is currently developing scalable initiatives designed to expand educational impact across southwestern and coastal communities.
Mobile Science Reading Labs
Deployable mobile carts containing curated marine biology literature paired with high-definition digital microscopes, bringing coastal lab environments directly to inland K-8 classrooms.
Early Literacy Grant Initiative
Direct mini-grants awarded to public school educators to acquire specialized scientific reading materials, field notebooks, and natural inquiry literature.
Youth Explorer Field Fellowships
Structured mentorship pairings connecting high school researchers with graduate marine taxonomists for immersive summer cataloging and laboratory residencies.
